Long‐term fluctuations and mechanisms of seed production of riparian tree canopy species

چکیده
Annual seedfall was measured over a 24-year period for three canopy species, Fraxinus platypoda, Pterocarya rhoifolia, and Cercidiphyllum japonicum, in riparian forest the Chichibu Mountains, central Japan. We collected seeds from 20 traps approximately every month, except winter. platypoda P. rhoifolia fluctuated, with 2-year cycle. The of C. japonicum also but this species produced year, an approximate 4-year simple moving average 5 years F. maintained at constant level period, it gradually increased japonicum. Each year's influenced by previous seedfall. results suggest that fluctuations amount were almost entirely dependent on stored resources, regardless weather. Conversely, resources temperature or precipitation summer year before flowering. These differences seed production patterns associated life history characteristics such as size regeneration mechanisms.

study the effects of low level laser diode on no production and healing of diabetic and cortisone acetate and normal wounded sd rats
nitric oxide (no) is a small molecule synthesized by most of mammalian cells with diverse biological activities including vasodilatation, host defense and wound healing. impaired wound healing is a common occurrence among diabetics and patients receiving glucocorticoid therapy. on the other hand the application of laser in biomedical area have been increased. thus, the current studies were desi...

Acer negundo Sarg. (box elder) is a dioecious tree species that dominates riparian systems at mid elevations throughout the southwest and Intermountain West of the United States. Previous studies have shown that female A. negundo trees occur at higher frequencies along stream margins, whereas males occur at higher frequencies in drier microsites. To better understand the adaptive significance o...
متن کاملAre Temperate Canopy Spiders Tree-Species Specific?
Arboreal spiders in deciduous and coniferous trees were investigated on their distribution and diversity. Insecticidal knock-down was used to comprehensively sample spiders from 175 trees from 2001 to 2003 in the Białowieża forest and three remote forests in Poland. We identified 140 species from 9273 adult spiders. Spider communities were distinguished between deciduous and coniferous trees. T...

Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) has a high potential for forage production inboth rangelands and cultivated rainfed areas of Iran. It is well adapted to semi-arid areas ofwest and north of country where annual rainfall is 250–350 mm. To study the seed and DryMatter (DM) yield and agronomic traits, six genotypes of Lathyrus sativus L. and twogenotypes of Lathyrus inconspicuous L. were provided b...
